Hello! Today’s post is a poem for paid subscribers, but I am sharing a few announcements at the top of the newsletter so that everyone can access. I also wanted to note that my newsletter publishing day has shifted to Saturday, as for now this is the day I have available for pulling all of my week’s notes together. I imagine the day of the week my newsletter is published may shift seasonally. Thank you for reading; I so appreciate your support and our ability to connect in this space.
Winter Swimming Story in the Glen Arbor Sun and The Betsie Current
I wrote a story about our winter swims for the local paper. It was published in the Glen Arbor Sun and then picked up by The Betsie Current. You can read the story on either of their websites, or can find the papers locally in Leelanau and Benzie Counties. I have loved all the feedback the story has generated, especially hearing so many people share their own cold water stories with me! Keep swimming and keep sharing!
If you are interested in swimming with us, I am doing my best to keep this thread updated with swim club details. You’re always welcome to send me an email or comment on a post if you’re local and interested in joining.
Paid Subscribers
Thank you to those of you who upgraded to paid subscriptions recently. I greatly appreciate everyone who subscribes to my newsletters, and the paid subscriptions make it possible for me to continue carving out the time to dedicate to this space. If you are able to offer a paid subscription, I am so grateful! However you show up here, I am glad to be connected.
Paid subscribers receive an additional 1-2 newsletters a month where I share my poetry. The poems are sometimes new poems I am working on and other times they are favorite poems from years past. I hope you enjoy.
If you’re interested in supporting my work in other ways, you can purchase books and poem prints from my online store!
The Threshold
I had the wonderful pleasure of attending a virtual writing workshop this morning, co-hosted by the Northwest Michigan Arts & Culture Council and Michigan Writers, and led by award-winning author Anne-Marie Oomen. I am still feeling the creative buzz of being guided through writing exercises alongside other writers this morning. What a treat.
If you’ve read any of my newsletters, you’ve noticed themes of connection woven through everything. Whatever I am writing about, be it the lake, motherhood, gardening, it all comes back to ways we connect to the land, each other, and ourselves.
